Mechanic - Calgary - Velofix

Under new and local ownership, Velofix Calgary aims to give our customers a convenient, premium service that saves our customers time and lets them get back to what they really love - RIDING. We do this by offering a full-service bike shop experience right at our client’s home or office.

We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial minded Lead Bike Technician to join our team in Calgary. Our ideal candidate is someone who has a desire to be part of a growing business that is re-shaping the bike service experience.This candidate likes to talk to customers and enjoys seeing the look on customers faces when the job is done and the bike is handed back to them.

You will be given autonomy and responsibility within a supported environment where you will be encouraged to develop and grow your career. Think of it as entrepreneurship with support. You will receive an above average salary and will keep all earned customer tips.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all-around excellent customer experience.

  • Proficiently execute assembly, repairs, and maintenance for all types of bicycles.

  • Monitor and maintain an inventory of parts and accessories, submit and receive parts orders via online interface.

  • Maintain an organized and efficient work environment.

  • Communicate with franchise owner / franchise support manager on programs and new offerings to customers.

  • Manage additional staff during the summer months.

Qualifications:

  • BBI/UBI/Winterbourne or similar certification, or equivalent work experience

  • Other certifications (STU, S-TEC, Specialized, Trek, etc.) very much desired

  • Some experience managing people in sport / retail environment

  • Knowledge and experience with Canadian bicycle supplier networks including HLC, Live2Play, Highway2, etc.

  • Must have a clean driving record with five years of current driving history, and be comfortable operating a large vehicle in an urban environment.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Enthusiastic and able to work directly with customers.

  • Independent worker, able to manage time to meet scheduled appointments.

  • Attention to detail and maintains high personal standards.
