Position: Bike mechanic
Job Description: Full Time Bicycle Mechanic - 19$/Hour (Benefits after 3 months)
Not your average bike mechanic position. At Hub City Cycles Community Co-operative we make biking more accessible to the community through refurbishment, fixing and consignment services. As a non-profit community co-operative, we offer as many solutions as possible, offering used parts and refurbished bicycles as well as stocking new parts and accessories.
The ideal candidate will exhibit some of the following traits:
2 years or more of bicycle mechanic experience.
Shimano Tec training, or other related Bicycle Mechanic certification.
Autonomous time management skills.
Experience working with co-operative enterprises.
Sales experience is an asset, but not required.
Experience writing service orders, giving quotes, and advising customers on necessary mechanical work.
An easy-going attitude and a strong work ethic.
Love of all things cycling related!
A typical day for the bike mechanic includes:
Opening the shop and moving sales bicycles outside.
Assisting customers.
Creating and working on service orders.
Completing work orders both on paper and in our POS system.
Calling customers with quotes or to inform them that their bicycle is ready.
Keeping track of inventory.
Cleaning and organizing.
We offer the following compensation to the successful candidate:
$19/hour wage.
32 - 40 hours per week depending on applicant preference.
After three months of full time work, we offer a benefits package that includes great dental coverage and extended health coverage. (Available to worker members doing 25 hours or more per week).
