Position: Salesperson / mechanic
Job Description: We are looking for a salesperson with an extensive knowledge of bicycles, components and accessories, as well as the ability to relay information in a clear and accessible manner. Our customers come from diverse backgrounds, and have varying levels of familiarity with bicycles and the products that we carry. Our goal as a shop is that we never “sell” anything, but rather help customers find what they are looking for, and give them the information they need to make choices about our products for themselves. We would be willing to train the right individual, so we will also consider an applicant who has a basic working knowledge of bicycles, and is a quick learner.
As one of our sales staff, you’d be responsible for inventory management, customer service, assisting mechanics, and shop maintenance. Things can get pretty busy, so an ability to work under pressure and multi task is important. Some stuff is heavy, so you would need to be comfortable lifting 40 lbs. We are a small shop, so mechanics and sales staff work closely together, and there is often overlap between the positions – our sales staff often assist with repairs, and our mechanics need to be comfortable working with customers. We are a commuter-oriented shop, so familiarity with bicycles and bicycle commuting is an asset.
This is a permanent, full-time position. Pay is commensurate with experience.
